Harpenden Common Golf Club is situated three miles north of St. Albans on the A1081 and in close proximity to Junction 9 of the M1. Golf has been played on the Common since 1894 and the Harpenden Common Golf Club was founded in 1931 as a private members club. The course, which was extended considerably in 1996, is easy to walk and a wonderful mixture of mature trees and gorse set in well manicured common park land which won the prestigious National Green Flag award in 2008.
The ‘Common’ as Ken Brown has stated on television, is one of the most friendly Golf Clubs in Hertfordshire.
The course is kept in excellent condition and open all year round (weather permitting).
It has a well deserved reputation for being suitable for all categories of golfers. Hertfordshire County Scratch and Tigers matches are regularly played as well as a full programme of Mens, Seniors, Ladies, Juniors and Mixed Competitions.
We offer a warm welcome to new members, visitors, societies and corporate clients. We pay special attention to the integration of new members and regular daily ‘Swindles’ ensure everybody finds a playing partner. Apart from medal and special competition days, we do not have booked starting times, ensuring flexibility and a daily playing guarantee. Whatever level of golf you want, you will find it here along with a full and varied social calendar. Families are welcomed in the spacious clubhouse and our restaurant offers excellent fare at reasonable prices.
Prices at the bar reflect great value for money and the use of your club card provides a further healthy discount. Fully equipped modern changing rooms are nearby and the Professional’s shop always has a good supply of golfing equipment at reasonable prices - please visit the pro shop page for more details and information about the excellent Professional teaching staff.
